BSc Qualifying CIEEM

Zoe joined OS Ecology in 2020, previously assisting on bat vantage point and transect surveys during her time at university, before joining OS Ecology permanently at the end of her degree. She studied Biology with Ecology and Conservation at Newcastle, with research projects on network ecology and mammal home range size. She is currently a Qualifying member of CIEEM, working towards her associate membership. 

She is experienced in undertaking various surveys including habitat surveys using the UK Habitats Classification. She mostly undertakes preliminary ecological appraisals, biodiversity net gain assessments, badger survey and great crested newt survey as well as assisting with various other protected species surveys including otter, water vole, white-clawed crayfish, freshwater pearl mussel, reptile, red squirrel and butterfly surveys. 

Zoe holds Great Crested Newt survey licences from both Natural England and Nature Scot.

During her career Zoe has worked on various projects including homeowner projects, quarries, residential development, schools and habitat restoration for a range of clients. She is currently working towards her Natural England Class 1 bat licence and has recently passed the City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Tree Climbing and Rescue to assist with aerial tree climbing inspections for bats.
