Mandy Rackham

Principal Ecologist

BA MSc MCIEEM

Mandy joined OS Ecology in 2020 and has been an ecological consultant since 2013. She holds a degree in Geography from the University of Liverpool and a master’s in Environmental Management from the University of Sunderland. She is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (MCIEEM). 

She is experienced in undertaking a range of surveys including habitat surveys utilising the UK Habitats Classification and preliminary ecological appraisals as well as botanical survey to NVC level.  She has also been involved in survey work for a range of protected species including great crested newt, bats, otter, water vole, badger, red squirrel, dormice, white-clawed crayfish, freshwater pearl mussel and reptiles.

Mandy holds the following survey licences:

Natural England:

  • Bats (Class 4), 
  • Great Crested Newt,
  • Dormice

Nature Scot

  • Bats,
  • Great Crested Newts

During her career Mandy has worked on a wide variety of projects including large and small scale housing developments, quarries, schools, commercial developments, highways and bridge repairs.  Mandy has also been the named ecologist on bat mitigation licences for a wide range of bat species covering day roosts, maternity roosts and hibernation roosts. Clients Mandy has worked with include Local Authorities, government bodies, charities, demolition contractors, planners, home owners and community groups.
