Our team comprises members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, with our directors holding the prestigious title of Chartered Ecologists. We have a rich history of working with protected species such as bats, great crested newts, birds, white-clawed crayfish, freshwater pearl mussels, natterjack toads, badgers, otters, and water voles. Our expertise extends to surveying a broad range of habitats, offering guidance on habitat creation and management.
OS Ecology regularly secures mitigation and conservation licences from Natural England and Nature Scot on behalf of our clients for various species, ensuring legal compliance and the conservation of these species during project execution.
Our expertise in Biodiversity Net Gain assessments, utilising the Defra Metric, includes conducting initial feasibility studies and advising on integrating Biodiversity Net Gain requirements into developments. We are proficient in preparing Ecological Impact Assessments and Ecological Chapters for Environmental Statements for a wide range of developments, including mineral extraction, residential, and renewable energy schemes. Furthermore, our ecologists have experience in conducting Habitat Regulations Assessments for developments affecting Special Protection Areas and Special Areas of Conservation, covering infrastructure, residential, and commercial projects.
