Tree Climbing Survey
Why do I need to consider Tree Climbing Surveys?
If a ground based assessment has identified potential roosting features (PRFs) in trees OS Ecology can carry out an aerial inspection to assess the features if it is safe to do so.
All of our climbers are qualified in Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue and can access trees using ropes and a harness to inspect features that cannot be assessed from ground level. Our climbers have Natural England Level 2 licences, allowing inspection of features using endoscopes. Using this technique, potential roosting features can be reclassified or ruled out if close inspection identifies them as unsuitable for bats, preventing unnecessary survey effort.
If suitable potential roosting features are recorded these can be identified for further activity survey if required.
